The Blenheim

The Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is white with chestnut colored patterns. The name comes from Blenheim Palace, where this breed was raised.  Usually the Blenheim has a white muzzle with chestnut colored floppy ears and color around the eyes. A chestnut spot on the head is a trait for the Blenheim colored spaniel and is often referred to as the thumbprint of the Duchess.

Temperament of the Blenheim Cavalier

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, no matter what color, is an intelligent dog breed that has a happy disposition. They are known to be loyal companions that become devoted to their families and are great with small children. Excellent dogs for first time owners, they are well behaved and are relatively easy to train due to their inquisitive nature. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel also make wonderful emotional support animals, they were bred as lap dogs and are some of the most cuddly and loving dogs available.  Due to their loyal nature, they can suffer from separation anxiety, however with training they can be left alone for up to four hours.  If you have a full-time job, you may consider getting two dogs that can keep each other company while you are away and have someone check on in on them as needed. We do not recommend you leave them alone as puppies for extended periods of time.
